William (Jnr.) purchased property at South Gundagai

WILLIAM (Jnr.) PURCHASES PROPERTY

“Charcoal” William’s second son, William (Jnr.) used his share of the sale of the mines to purchase a property called “Willie Ploma” at South Gundagai, NSW. William (Jnr.) spent the rest of his life on this property engaged in grazing pursuits.

WILLIAM, Jnr.’s MARRIAGE

William Joseph Williams (Jnr.) was born on 18 July 1845 at Campbelltown, NSW.

He married Jane HINDON on 7 April 1872 at the Catholic Church in Adelong (pictured on the right). The witnesses at the wedding were William Hindon and Caroline Williams.
 

THE HINDON FAMILY

Jane Hindon was born in C.1850 at Gundaroo, New South Wales.

Jane’s father was William, a miner. Jane had been living with her parents at Adelong at the time of her marriage.

WILLIAM (Jnr.) AND JANE WILLIAMS’S CHILDREN

William and Jane has two children: Eliza Mary born 1874 and Edward John born 9 June 1876, (my husband’s grandfather). Both of the children were born at the family home “Willie Ploma”, South Gundagai.

DEATH OF JANE WILLIAMS (1877)

Jane was very ill following the birth of her second child, Edward John and she died the following year on 28 April and was buried in the Adelong cemetery.William William's Jnr grave

WILLIAM (Jnr.) REMARRIES (1878)

William (Jnr.) then married Ellen Mary Riley at Tumut and they had four children: William born 1879; Robert Thomas born 1881; Caroline born 1890; and Frank Stanley born 1892.

DEATH OF WILLIAM (Jnr.) (1893)

William (Jnr.) died on 15 July 1893 at his home, “Willie Ploma” after a bout of pneumonia. He was buried in the Adelong Cemetery on 17 July 1893 (grave pictured on the right).
