Welcome to the Great Lakes Museum situated in Tuncurry on the northern side of the ocean entrance to Wallis Lake (New South Wales’ largest coastal lake) about 300 kilometers (3 and 1/2 hours drive) north of Sydney (between Newcastle and Port Macquarie). The twin towns of Forster and Tuncurry are linked by a bridge across the lake. The museum is run by volunteer members of The Great Lakes Historical Society which was formed in 1976.
